Competitive Gymnastics at Xtreme Athletics

Our Competitive Gymnastics Program is designed for athletes who are ready to take their training to the next level through structured skill development, disciplined practice, and competition opportunities. Gymnasts train on all four Olympic events—vault, bars, beam, and floor—while focusing on strength, flexibility, technique, and performance quality. The program is divided into levels, allowing athletes to progress at their own pace, from foundational routines in Bronze to more advanced skills in Silver, Gold, and beyond.

With a strong emphasis on teamwork, goal setting, and personal growth, our competitive program provides a positive and challenging environment where athletes build confidence, resilience, and a lifelong love for the sport. Coaches are committed to helping each gymnast reach their full potential both on and off the mat.

Key Features of the Excel Program

  1. Five Competitive Levels: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Diamond. Each level has its own skill requirements and allows gymnasts to progress at their own pace.
  2. More Flexibility: Unlike the traditional JO program, Xcel allows for customized routines and less rigid skill progressions, making it more accessible for gymnasts of all backgrounds.
  3. Lower Time Commitment: Practices are generally fewer hours per week compared to JO, making it easier for gymnasts to participate in other sports, school activities, or family commitments.
  4. Inclusivity: The program is designed to accommodate various skill levels and provide a fun, rewarding experience for gymnasts who may not want the intensity of the JO track.
  5. Competitive Yet Fun: Gymnasts still get to compete in meets, earn scores, and receive awards, but the focus is more on personal achievement rather than high-pressure competition.

Who is the JO/DP Program For?

  1. Gymnasts who are serious about the sport and willing to commit to intense training and competition.
  2. Athletes who want to compete at a high level and potentially pursue college gymnastics or even elite training.
  3. Those who thrive on structure, progression, and a high-performance environment.

Key Features of the JO/DP Program

Levels of Progression:

  1. Compulsory Levels (1-5): These levels focus on foundational skills, with all gymnasts performing the same routines to build strong basics.
  2. Optional Levels (6-10): Gymnasts perform individualized routines that showcase their strengths while meeting specific skill requirements. Level 10 is the highest and prepares athletes for collegiate, elite, or professional gymnastics.

Higher Training Commitment:

  1. Athletes train multiple hours per week (often 15-30+ hours) depending on their level.
  2. Focus on strength, flexibility, and skill development to progress safely.

Strict Progression System:

  1. Gymnasts must meet mobility scores and demonstrate required skills to advance to the next level.
  2. Requires dedication and perseverance to move up.

Competitive Opportunities:

  1. Gymnasts compete in local, state, regional, and national competitions based on their level.
  2. Level 10 athletes can qualify for USA Gymnastics National Championships and may transition into collegiate or elite gymnastics.
